Engage with your seminar professor and colleagues on the topic of planning using the following prompt to begin the discussion:

The beginning of planning for writing a research paper is the selection of a topic followed by the development of a strong thesis statement. A well planned and thought-out thesis statement will guide the research and writing of a paper that presents clear critical thinking, strong supporting arguments, and sound conclusions.

In your other DMin seminar, your professor has asked you to submit two or three possible research paper topics. Using information gleaned from this week’s reading assignments, especially the U of T essay “Using Thesis Statements,” develop a thesis statement(s) for the topic(s) that you are contemplating for your research paper.

Share your best topic and thesis statement with your peers for their evaluation and feedback.
